THE PLATFORM
The Story Behind Neeraja
Neeraja is my mother’s first name. In South India, families traditionally carry the father’s name as the last name, but my sisters and I chose to honor our mother instead—a reflection of her strength, grace, and sacrifice.
In Sanskrit, Neeraja means “born from water”. It can also mean “water lily” or “lotus.” The lotus thrives in murky waters—its beauty and resilience a reminder that from challenge comes strength. My journey mirrors that symbolism: growing through adversity and helping others rise with me.

As an Indian-Hindu American woman with dwarfism, my life has been a journey of breaking barriers, challenging misconceptions, and redefining what it means to lead. I don’t just speak about inclusion—I live it. Each story I share, each conversation I lead, is an invitation to build a world where belonging is not a privilege, but a shared responsibility.
